The Jackal is the second to last canine unlocked.

Biology[]

Jackals are opportunistic omnivores, predators of small to medium sized animals and proficient scavengers. Their long legs and curved canine teeth are adapted for hunting small mammals, birds, and reptiles, and their large feet and fused leg bones give them a physique well-suited for long-distance running.

Life as a Jackal[]

The Jackal is the fifth non-DLC size 3 predator it is possible to play as. The Jackal is very similar to the Wolf in almost every way, however Jackals have slightly less base Life and slightly more base Hunger. This doesn't lead to any noticeable difference over time though, and they can be treated in much the same way.

Jackals as Prey[]

Jackals are a fairly common sight throughout most of the years, most numerously spotted early on in the Yamanote Line, replacing wolves in Shibuya Woods, or wandering the Sewer. Just like wolves, they are often in packs of at least three or more and can prove an issue for small underdeveloped Grazers or smaller predators, as their tendency to appear in numerous small packs throughout an area can make marking or feeding difficult. Their high average speed can also lead to them swarming over the smaller, slower animals as well. Jackals have the special enemy skill Pack Call, which will allow them to call in more Jackals as reinforcements if they spot a target. If they do intend to call, it's best to take out the Jackal before it can finish.
